Bus Network Proposals
We are reviewing local bus services across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to help create a network that is more reliable, better connected and provides the best possible value for money. As part of this review, we have developed a range of proposals for services currently funded by the Combined Authority.
The proposals aim to improve the overall bus network by strengthening connections between communities and key destinations such as town centres, hospitals, workplaces and education sites, while making the best use of available funding.
Importantly, no decisions have been made. These are proposals we are engaging on so that we can hear the views of residents, passengers, businesses and stakeholders before any decisions are taken.
We welcome your feedback and thank you for taking the time to take part. Your views will play an important role in helping shape the final recommendations.
How the proposals could affect you
We are proposing changes to bus services across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Depending on where you live, work or travel, some services may change, some may stay the same, and some new connections could be introduced.
These proposals have been developed to help meet the needs of the region as a whole, improve connections between communities and key destinations, and ensure funding is used as effectively as possible. However, they are not final decisions.
We are sharing these ideas now because we want to understand what matters most to local people and communities. Your feedback will help us understand the potential benefits, concerns and impacts of the proposed changes before any decisions are made.

How the proposals have been developed
The proposals are based on an independent review of bus services funded by the Combined Authority and assessed using the Bus Services Review Framework approved in November 2025.
The review focused on:
- how bus services are currently used
- how well services meet the needs of local communities
- connections to key destinations, including town centres, hospitals, workplaces and education sites
- the overall value for money provided by each service
The proposals also reflect:
- changing travel patterns and passenger demand
- opportunities to improve connections between services
- the need to make the best use of available public funding
- the role of demand-responsive transport in areas with lower passenger numbers
- the Combined Authority’s commitment to improving connectivity across the region
