Last few weeks to have your say on the future of buses
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is urging local people to get involved in the bus franchising consultation before it closes in just a few weeks’ time.
The 14-week statutory consultation began in mid-August and will end on Wednesday 20 November 2024. It will inform a decision by the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Dr Nik Johnson, on how to reform buses across the area.
Since the consultation started, the Combined Authority has held face-to-face events across the region for statutory consultees and local communities to give people the chance to meet with the consultation team in person. It has also been running digitally with the option to download, print and post back responses, as well as to access translated copies and large print versions.
The Combined Authority has sought to engage with older people, families with young children and students and is reminding anyone who has not yet done so to submit their response as soon as possible. Any questionnaires received after the 20 November deadline can’t be counted.
Chief Executive of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Rob Bridge, said: “With just a few weeks left to go, now is the time to let us know what you think about bus services and how you would like them to be run in the future. Please complete our questionnaire before 20 November to make sure your voice is heard.”
There are still several ways people can take part in the consultation:
- In-person: The last two drop-in events where people can meet members of the consultation team will take place in St Neots Market Square on 7 November. For more details visit: Key Events – CPCA (cpca-yourvoice.co.uk)
- Paper copies or large print versions of the consultation documents are available as well as copies in Polish, Lithuanian, Portuguese and Urdu.
Email: consultations@cambridgeshirepeterborough-ca.gov.uk
- People can also print out the consultation documents and post their response. They can call 01480 277180 to receive a FREEPOST envelope. All survey returns to the following address: Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Bus Franchising Consultation, 2nd Floor, Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE29 3TN
Once the consultation closes the Combined Authority will compile and publish a report setting out its response to the consultation. The Mayor’s decision is due on Wednesday 22nd January 2025, however this date may be subject to change.
